The Military Spouse JD Network wants to shine a big spotlight on employers that are really making a different for military spouses. We all know the (abysmal) statistics on military spouse employment, and the legal profession is certainly no exception. Maintaining a career as a military spouse attorney is tough, and sometimes, downright discouraging. If only employers would take a chance on us!
But there are many who do take that chance. MSJDN members frequently tell us stories of employers all around the country who are going out of their way to support military spouse attorneys in balancing career and service. And, members tell us, employers who take a chance on one military spouse attorney are impressed, and often go on to hire even more of them!
This Spring, MSJDN wants to highlight employers that are supporting our members, express our gratitude, and, hopefully, add to their numbers. But we need help from you, our members, to do it! On May 7, MSJDN will be hosting a reception in Washington, D.C., and will be giving awards to two “hiring partners,” recognized for their work to support military spouse attorneys. One award recipient will be selected by MSJDN Leadership, and the other will be a Member’s Choice Award.
Have you seen an employer go above and beyond for military spouse attorneys? Be sure to nominate them! Any member can nominate an employer, and it does not have to be an employer that you currently work for. And while there will be only one Member’s Choice winner, MSJDN will be telling the stories of many nominees over the coming weeks. Submitting a nomination is a great way to say “thank you” to an employer that has made a difference for you.
